Yes, I was eating Fig Newtons when I thought of this, and I was getting pretty annoyed at those little gritty parts of the fig in the filling. Pretty much every math major has imagined the bones of Sir Isaac Newton being ground up at some point in their lives, and when an opportunity like this presents itself, you take it. That's what heroes do.

I'm also glad to have had an opportunity to work figs into a comic, because of a wonderful passage about Jesus in the Bible, specifically Matthew, Chapter 21, Verses 18-19 (taken from the New International Version): "Early in the morning, as he was on his way back to the city, he was hungry. Seeing a fig tree by the road, he went up to it but found nothing on it except leaves. Then he said to it, 'May you never bear fruit again!' Immediately the tree withered."

As far as I can tell, the moral of this story is that you don't mess with Jesus when he's hungry.
